a space for the community to learn, grow, dance, sing, chant, breathe, gather, and be together.
we offer a range of practices that invite people to deepen their connection—to themselves, to one another, and to the sacred. we’re committed to making these practices accessible and welcoming, with a trauma-informed approach that honors the many ways people move through the world. We aim to remove barriers to entry so that all have access to these practices.
our intention is to create a space where people can come as they are—with different bodies, beliefs, backgrounds, experiences, capacities, and levels of experience—and find meaningful ways to practice, connect, and simply be.

The inspiration for flow together and its offerings comes from the Bhagavad Gita — which outlines how there are multiple pathways to finding the sacred. So many studios in the west focus on merely the physical practice of yoga (asana). The four paths of yoga outlined in the Gita uncover that there are many different ways of finding and deepening our spiritual practice. We will aim to have a balance of offerings to provide many various access points for students and the community:
karma yoga: the path of service
we practice through service and contribution.
bhakti yoga: the path of devotion
we practice through devotion, connection, and love.
rāja yoga: the path of meditation
we practice through awareness and stillness.
jñāna yoga: the path of wisdom
we practice through study, inquiry, and understanding.
-
the yamas and niyamas come from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, one of yoga’s foundational texts, and offer teachings for how we relate to ourselves, one another, and the world around us.
yamas provide guidance on how to practice being in relationship. niyamas provide guidance on how to practice being with ourselves.
we hold these teachings as invitations to practice, as a way to help guide the kind of community we want to create and the ways we want to show up together. -

in order to keep flow together a welcoming environment for all, we ask that the following commitments are made by both teachers and students. If any commitments are broken, proper steps will be taken to ensure the safety of the community, which could include removal of the individual from the space. as a community, we:
Do not tolerate any type of abuse, hate, or discrimination.
Aim to honor the preferences of individuals in the way they express themselves and choose to be named.
Do not exchange any energy without consent.
Do not sexualize the practices of others.
Will use particular care regarding romantic or sexual relationships with current students because of the inherent power dynamics of a teacher-student relationship.
Will not exchange or use drugs or alcohol, as this is intended to be a sober space.
if you encounter any of these commitments being breached, please share any situations with lauren.
-
we share the building with three other tenants (the bookstore downstairs and two other practitioners on our floor).
any loud sound (above 2+ voices and/or percussion needs to start in the evening after 7:30 pm).
please be respectful of our neighbors and let lauren know if any issues are raised.
there is a trash can in the kitchen that can be used by us. please be mindful of the shared spaces as they are also used by other practitioners with clients.
please also be respectful of who you see in the space as there are practitioners with private clients and we should respect their anonymity.
the trash cans behind carmichael’s are the ones for the building so please make sure to use those if you are ever taking out the trash.
